Unfortunately, correctional facilities like prisons and youth development centers are an important part of our society and lifestyle. These facilities include intense security systems to monitor inmates and intense security work requirements to assure safety for both the workers involved in working in these institutions and also the residents.
Westmoreland Electric has performed work for the State of Pennsylvania and also Allegheny County on the projects we have been involved with. We performed the electrical installation for the State Correctional Institute in Mercer when we added a new cell block to the existing facility. The project involved nearly 200 cells, an extensive perimeter detection system on the security fence and several high-mast lighting fixtures to light up the entire site. The work that we performed at the Schuman Detention Center and the New Castle Youth Development Center involved fire alarm and security systems in these existing youth detention facilities. Many precautions need to be taken when working inside the walls of these correctional facilities. All of these projects were performed within these strict guidelines and the orders of the corrections officers that were employed there.
The following links shown below will give you an idea of our broad range of capabilities by highlighting the projects we have worked on in the last decade. Each link has been separated into certain industry segments. Clicking on that segment will showcase the projects we have performed recently in each of the segments. Many of the projects will have additional links to descriptions of work, contact references, pictures, letters of recommendation and awards the project may have won.
