Edinboro University Substation
This project involved the replacement of 2-35KV to 15KV 1500KVA transformers and the replacement of a 15 section 15KV indoor switchgear line up including 130’ of 15KV 1000amp outdoor buss duct.
Due to extremely long equipment lead times for the equipment, most of our work was completed during the summer break of the Universities schedule. Our first outage occurred in May, which allowed us to switch all of the campus 15KV loads to the west substation of the existing gear thus allowing us to take the eastern substation out of service, allowing us to demo out the existing gear and replace it with the new ABB Gear. We completed installing the east substation and all of the testing and had our second outage in July. This outage allowed us to change all the campus loads to the newly completed East substation so that we could complete the remaining west substation by mid-August and switch the campus over to their normal distribution schedule before the students returned from summer break. The project went very smoothly with the help of the University’s and engineers detailed working with us on all concerns of the project.
